Somebody up there likes me
I was asked this week to provide a tour for Howard, who is a partner in a company which puts together VIP packages for discerning clients who are prepared to pay for a superior product. The company has used me on a number of occasions and I have always greatly enjoyed working for them.
I picked Howard up from the Balmoral Hotel and things got off to a good start when the Head Concierge told Him he was in good hands with me. On to the Castle and KIrsty at the ticket desk gave me a very cheery ‘hi Bill, how are you?’
Down the Royal Mile and loads of people were greeting me whilst the guides and drivers on the open tops were waving or shouting down at me to the extent that Howard remarked that it was like being with a celebrity.
Off to lunch at Wedgewood and I was greeted with a hug from the waitress who found us a table. Howard said that the waitress was the reason I had taken him there! He said that he was going to stand me lunch, but as the wine was being served , Paul, the Chef who jointly owns the restaurant with his lovely wife, Lisa, came through, shook my hand and when I introduced him to Howard, told him he was with the top guide in Edinburgh. Then, to cap it all he told us that the lunch was on him.
Some days you can’t put a foot wrong!
